Lambs on centre stage

Prime lambs will take centre stage in the newly installed pens at the Sheep and Wool Pavilion during the upcoming show on Friday and Saturday. These pens, first installed in the 2024 event, will house lambs across various sections, including Aussie White, Dorset-sired, Dorper-sired, and any breed or cross.

Stewards will on hand to answer questions while they feed and water the sheep during the show.

The lambs will arrive at the pavilion on Thursday afternoon and undergo judging on Friday morning. They will remain on display with ribbons, cards, and weight details until 2 PM on Saturday.

Local studs and sponsors, (including Thomas International Foods) generously provide cash support for transporting the lambs to the Yangan meatworks after they are purchased by Gross Meats. Kev McMahon and Sons will judge and prepare of the paperwork, donating his commission to the show society.

Prizes and trophies are on display in the window of Pursehouse Stanthorpe until the commencement of the show before they are moved to the glass showcase in the pavilion.

Adding to the excitement, a shearing demonstration will take place on Saturday mid-morning. A skilled shearer will showcase techniques using several lambs, accompanied by a commentator explaining the different blows and cuts to the audience. As a special highlight, Local girl, Erica, will bring in her pet lamb to be shorn during the demonstration.
