Our Sausage King winners

Carey Bros Butchers, Warwick, managed to win three categories in the recent Sausage King Outback Region competition, beating a number of former national winners.
Paul Carey said they placed with 10 of their 14 entries.
“You’re happy to win any category, but to win the three main categories (beef, pork, and gourmet), which are your biggest sellers is fantastic,” he said.
“We were only one point away from winning another section.
“We’ve always won at least one category; we’ve done it consistently for the last five years.”
Carey Bros Butchers’ Sam Dight made all the winning sausages at the recent competition in Chinchilla.
Allora Butchery was also successful at the competition, winning two categories with their Lamb Shanks and Malibu Chicken, and placing about 10 times.
“The outback competition is very competitive, with three national winners in it, so if you can pull off a win, it’s great,” Allora Butchery owner Grant Lollback said.
Both businesses will now proceed to the state titles to be held in conjunction with the Brisbane Ekka in August.
