Southern Downs school leavers and residents had the opportunity to explore and experience possible future careers at the Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE (SQIT) Open Day yesterday.
The open day allowed potential TAFE students to see what TAFE has to offer in a fun, informative and relaxed way.
SQIT’s institute director Trevor Schwenke said school students participated in activities that demonstrated a variety of apprenticeships and traineeships including hospitality, aged care, automotive, rural and many trades.
Career information from a number of external partners who support TAFE in industries such as police recruitment and employment agencies were also available.
Attendees enjoyed jazz music during lunchtime, participated in a diverse range of activities, checked out the World Skills Competition, plus entered the draw to win an iPad.
