Welcome to our Garden

State Member for Southern Downs Lawrence Springborg opened the exhibition “Welcome to our Garden” by the four Bloomin’ Artists on Friday evening, September 2 at the Kath Dickson Community Artspace, 359 Ruthven Street, Toowoomba.
Mr Springborg called the Bloomin’ Artists forward to stand with him; they are Dawn Marriage, Jennifer Marshall, Colleen Gardener and Jean Heeks, all from Warwick.
He linked the coming of spring and the coming forth of new life with the vibrant and beautiful artworks representing a garden theme, and the coming of Toowoomba’s celebration of spring in the Carnival of Flowers.
The gallery will be open to the public daily from 10am to 5pm during the Carnival of Flowers, and this refreshing exhibition will uplift the spirit and bring joy to the heart of every viewer who delights in the beauty of nature.
During the Carnival of Flowers tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday, each artist will have their own small display and be painting on site, each in a different display garden.
The artists and their respective gardens are as follows: Colleen Gardener will be at Phil and Marjorie Martin’s garden at 17 Dallang Road, Middle Ridge; Jennifer Marshall will be at Joyce McKee’s garden at 3 Cullifor Drive, Middle Ridge; Jean Heeks will be at Leslie and Ed Dean’s garden at 41 Stenner Street, Middle Ridge; and Dawn Marriage will be at Patty Holt’s garden at 10 Rocky Ridge Court, Torrington.
Small scale artworks, prints, and gift cards by the artists will be on sale in these gardens, with a percentage of the proceeds being donated to the charity of the garden owners’ choice.
