Top gong for Granite Belt

The Stanthorpe Visitor Information Centre, operated by Granite Belt Wine + Tourism (GBWT) has taken the Queensland Visitor Information Centre of the Year Category Two.
Presented at the Queensland Information Centres Association (QICA) award night at Heron Island last week, the award recognises the important role visitor information centres play in tourism in Queensland.
GBWT’s president, Peter Orr said, “We are absolutely chuffed by the win, and extremely proud of our Visitor Information Centre manager, supervisors and volunteers, all who have contributed to this outstanding achievement”.
“This recognition is exceptional, and further cements the Granite Belt as one of Australia’s leading tourism regions,” he said.
“This is the first time the Stanthorpe Visitor Information Centre has been selected, and we look forward to many more.”
The award, along with a cheque for $1000, was presented by sponsor Scott Hampson of BookEasy Tourism Solutions, to centre supervisors Jane Miller and Karen Rowen.
QICA coordinate these annual awards to recognise excellence in the delivery of quality visitor services, no matter the structure and resourcing of each centre.
The award night was part of the annual QICA conference hosted by Gladstone Area Promotion and Development Ltd.
