Powerline debate stalls at Community Reference Group

Debating the electricity needs of the community and possible options for the proposed high voltage power line between Warwick and Stanthorpe has stalled again as one member of the Community Reference Group (CRG) has now blocked the majority decision that more power is required citing integrity issues with the data provided by Ergon.
The move has left members of the CRG less confident in being able to make appropriate decisions about the power needs with one member stating they were ‘over it’.
Ergon’s own staff were disappointed in the conflicting data they had supplied the meeting and agreed more accurate research was required for the group to move forward.
The Community Reference Group are now more aware that options other than the initial route plans put forward to landowners by Ergon now need consideration and further research is required as to the actual power needs in and around Stanthorpe as well as the need to talk to affected landowners near the current power lines.
