Slim theme at Bony Mountain Festival

The 2018 Bony Mountain Festival will honour Slim Dusty by totally featuring a Slim Dusty theme – dedicating the whole weekend to remembering the man, his life and his legacy.

Anne Kirkpatrick, Dianne Lindsay and members of Slim’s Travelling Band – Rod Coe and Mike Kerin – are all attending and will perform two shows during the weekend, on the Saturday night from 7pm and on Sunday morning from 11am.

There will be two exhibitions, one with donated and on-loan items from private local collectors in the Bony Mountain Gallery, and another mobile exhibition to be very kindly presented by Dudley Monament from the Sunshine Coast which includes an original 1935 touring caravan owned by Slim and including a wonderful collection of memorabilia.

Festival organizer Norma O’Hara-Murphy is very grateful for the interest and for the wonderful response from so many people who love Slim’s music.

“It is a unique opportunity to be able to bring you this exhibition and especially Slim’s own wonderful family, with two great showcases,” Norma said.

“We invite everyone to come and share this wonderful weekend and to honor Slim and show his family how much he was loved in Queensland and indeed all over this great country of ours.

“The highpoint will be on Saturday 15 September when we will unveil the big sandstone memorial to Slim, beside our big stage here at Bony Mountain.

“Anne and Slim’s family will make it special by just being here.

“Slim’s music will be playing all weekend and a lot of us will pay our own tributes – myself and Pixie Jenkins, Manfred Vijars, Jeff Brown, Dean Perrett, Garry Fogarty, Errol Gray, Chris and Phil Coad and many more.”
