If cookery’s your jam

The ever popular cake decorating section.

Your day out at the Stanthorpe Show would not be complete without a visit to the Cookery, Jars and Fine Artistry sections located in the Exhibition Centre.

The finest skills of our local cooks are on display here so don’t miss out!

Look out for the amazing iced decorated cakes, the delicious jams, pickles, preserves and sauces, the scrumptious looking cakes, scones, sweets and biscuits and of course the always popular and very cute children’s entries. We also have special categories for schools’ decorated biscuits, Bluey Biscuits featuring the cartoon character Bluey, rookie cooks, special needs and our new fun category – Hills and Valleys – for bakes that didn’t turn out quite as planned.

Please ask our Stewards any questions you may have about our entries – or how to enter next year!

The Feature Cake this year is a Gingerbread House so we are sure to see some fine creations – will there be a schoolhouse, outhouse, birdhouse, or doghouse? Or just beautifully decorated traditional cottages?

After the Cookery Presentations at 1.30pm, make sure that you are at the stage at 2pm to watch our local celebrities including Southern Downs Regional Council Mayor, Vic Pennisi, vinegar wizard Ian Henderson, Fire Chief Ian Barnden, SSHS Principal Justin Kuskie, cookery sponsor Allison Trace, Show President Boaty and the Bendigo Bank compete in the Celebrity Gingerbread House Challenge – 30 fast and furious minutes live on stage followed by the auctioning of their efforts by local guru of the gavel Anne Lindsay. All funds raised go to Bushkids so come along and bid up a storm!
