“And when thou art weary I’ll find thee a bed, of mosses and flowers to pillow thy head,” wrote famous poet John Keats.

Similarly inspired are artists Jan Allan and Dawn Head Rose whose beautiful still-life paintings of flowers are the Willow Window of the Week at Killarney’s Willow Gallery.

The Gallery, which attracts scores of tourists and locals, changes its window display regularly to showcase the works of its members.

The Gallery is a cooperative run by local artists for local artists creating fine art, homemade crafts, collectables, and hand-crafted woodwork from local timber.

“Because the artists band together as a co-op to staff the gallery and because there are no big commissions imposed on their work as with a commercial gallery, the pricing is very reasonable,” said Gallery president Jayne Deshon.

“The works sell well, which is why the paintings change so regularly in the front window as a drawcard for the scores of tourists who come in for a look before they head off to the coffee shops.”

The Willow Gallery is open from 10am to 3pm every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
