It will be a case of starting the day off in an equitable manner when members of Zonta Warwick and their guests gather at King’s Theatre around 6.30am for breakfast to celebrate the achievements of women throughout the world on Wednesday, 8 March.

Each year on International Women’s Day, club members and interested others have a chance to listen to an inspiring story that helps them keep moving forward in their quest to build a gender-equal world.

“We envisage a world that is diverse, equitable and inclusive – a world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination,” said Zonta Warwick president Janet Platz.

“We invite everyone in our region to embrace our mission to build a better world for women and girls.“

Guest speakers will be Megan O’Shannessy, the president of Protea Place in Toowoomba and Kathy Payne, representing the group working towards having a Protea Place in Warwick. Protea Place is an outreach and support centre for vulnerable women.

This year’s Zonta theme is ’embrace equity’ and funds raised from the breakfast will go to Zonta’s international service projects and education programs to help women and girls achieve gender equity worldwide. People can book for the breakfast through Warwick Tickets at www.warwicktickets.com.au/events/17555.

The Young Woman in Public Affairs winner will be announced at the breakfast.
