Benefit concert to help refugee family

Warwick's Laurel and Bob Wilson form the Goodwills duo whose terrific folk music has been featured on Macca's Australia All Over albums.

A refugee family due to arrive in Warwick in May will benefit from funds raised this Sunday at a special concert at 2pm at St Mark’s Anglican Hall in Grafton Street.

Admission and afternoon tea are by donation.

The concert is being hosted by the Southern Downs Welcome Circle as it prepares to help settle the family who have been in a refugee camp for several years.

The concert will feature Granite Belt duo Penny Davies and Roger Ilott.

The talented pair have produced more than 20 albums and have had their hits Hey Rain! and Where the Cane Fires Burn included on the best-selling Australia All Over albums One and Two.

Penny and Roger are well known for their performances at the Woodford Folk Festival and the National Folk Festival.

Another talented local folk duo are Laurel and Bob Wilson whose band, the Goodwills, has also featured on Australia All Over albums.

Laurel and Bob, who live in Warwick, have produced six albums.

The pair are also members of Warwick’s talented East Street Singers chamber choir, directed by Jill Hulme.

The choir will also perform at Sunday’s concert.
