Fire drums and bonfires light up Killarney

Get ready for all the fun in Killarney.

Stargazing and clear skies, flames licking high into the sky and the inventiveness of local creatives – it’s time again for the annual Killarney Bonfire Night, Saturday 22 July 2023 from 4pm to 9pm. at 51 Willow Street with parking at the Recreation Grounds.

It’s a chance to enjoy the big bonfire and creative fire drums at the showgrounds in an event run by the community for the community.

And while enjoying the warmth and creativeness of the night, spectators will also be helping the community with the event also acting as a fundraiser for Killarney Memorial Aged Care, Killarney Show and Rodeo Society Inc., Killarney Recreation Club, Killarney Lions Club, Killarney Girls Brigade, Killarney Pony Club.

And it won’t just be the amazingly creative fire drums and big bonfire that will warm up the crowd this year either.

There will be plenty of entertainment to work it’s magic too.

There will be Energy Entertainment specialising in ‘High-Energy Fire Entertainment’, Helly Hoops – Giant Bubbles, LED Hoop entertainment, Hula Hoop Play space and of course the all important fireworks.

This year’s bonfire night is just after the new moon, so it’ll be the perfect time for stargazing and a great time to use your camera or phone camera and get plenty of pics (and don’t forget to tag them on social media – # killarneybonfirenight, #jumpersandjazz).

There will also be merchandise available on the night and visitors won’t go hungry either with plenty of local vendors coming along to keep everyone fed.

On the food side it ranges from the award-winning American barbeque from Bluebird Kitchen and Smokehouse, to traditional wood-fired pizza from 4Stagioni Pizzeria, Indian food from Mild Chilli or Mexican-inspired street food from Two Serial Grillers + many more.

There’s plenty of beverage options too, with mulled wine from the local KMAC team to keep you warm, coffee from @JoJo’s Brewhouse Mobile Coffee Van or Pecks Mobile Coffee or for those looking for some craft beer the organisers have got that covered with Psycho Suzie’s Brewing (+ soft drinks and waters available at a number of locations).

The Killarney Bonfire is part of the wonderful Jumpers and Jazz in July festival, here in the Southern Downs.

And the town is already gearing up with some of the spectacular fire drum dragons out on display ready to welcome visitors.
