Jump in and help out

Full steam ahead with volunteers! Southern downs steam railway volunteers with their mini train (kidzone, ieslie parek) community volunteer Tony Gleeson (2nd from right) created the amazing "Mini Train Station" for the event.

What does Jumpers and Jazz in July mean to you?

At face value, it is 10 days of events, activities, and music. But it’s that and much more. For 10 days Warwick transforms into a bundle of yarn, colour, and creativity.

This transformation is not possible without the help of the community and volunteers.

So, if you would like the opportunity to experience it all this festival or if you would just like to lend a helping hand, then why not sign up to volunteer?

There are many potential jobs for all types of people.

For people who don’t shy away from a conversation, there are coach greeter jobs or local tour guides in the CBD for the Ateliers Precinct.

There will also be many opportunities at the Festival Hub located like practical admin jobs and more.

The creatives amongst us are welcome to join the local knitting, crocheting, and sewing groups and help create the deco that brightens various festival events. If this interests you, phone Judy on 0400 482 074.

The CBD cannot be transformed on its own, any amount of time that can be offered to help set up makes a big difference. Help for this is needed particularly on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24. This would look great on the resumes of those who are looking for ‘behind the scenes’ event planning experience.

Even families have joined in previously setting up the alfresco areas and decorating various aspects of the events and have said they appreciated knowing they have helped make a difference.

The Jumpers and Jazz committee are also encouraging fitness fans to lend their energy in assisting with heavier aspects of the work. Fitness groups, retailers and other organisations are encouraged to wear their shirts, caps and other identifiers to state their presence.

President of the management committee, Pam Burley said they are looking forward to giving a warm Warwick welcome to all the visitors who come for the event.

“Southern Downs locals attend in their hundreds as well, and there are great opportunities for community members to get involved with that ‘warm welcome’, share the vibe from the festival engine room and make this unique and vibrant event happen,” Pam said.

There are many more opportunities available, and all information can be found under the Apply tab on the website jumpersandjazz.com.au/applications/volunteers

A printed form can also be picked up from the Visitor Information Centre at Warwick Town Hall or phone Carol on 0492 979 870.
