The Allora Show is poised for an equestrian extravaganza like never before, with organisers anticipating record-breaking numbers of horses and participants for this year’s event.
Riding on the momentum of previous successes, expectations are high as the Allora Show gears up to showcase the best of equine talent and skill.
Allora Show Society’s Vice President Carol Lyall said last year they smashed the record of horses.
“And I think we’re going to smash that again this year,” she said.
The Allora Show stands out amidst a landscape where many agricultural shows are experiencing a decline in equine participation.
The dedication of Carol and the volunteers has ensured that the Allora Show remains a beacon of equestrian excellence in the Darling Downs region.
“Our passion lies in showcasing horses and providing opportunities for riders to exhibit their skills,“ Carol said.
“It’s disheartening to see other shows losing their equine events due to lack of support and participation.“
At the heart of the Allora Show’s equestrian program lies inclusivity and diversity. From riders as young as three years old to those with disabilities, the show offers a platform for all enthusiasts to showcase their talents.
“We believe in inclusivity and strive to create an environment where everyone feels welcome and valued.“
The show’s lineup includes a diverse range of competitions, from the Working Horse Challenge to the exhilarating jumping events. On Saturday, the main show horse event will feature an array of breeds, including hacks, stock horses, coloured horses, ponies, galloways, and jumping.
“The Allora Show is a celebration of equine excellence in all its forms,“ Carol said.
“Both days of the event will be teeming with horses, as enthusiasts from far and wide converge on Allora to participate and spectate.“
Such is the excitement surrounding the Allora Show that stabling and camping sites sold out within days of opening registration. The overwhelming response underscores the enduring appeal and popularity of the event within the equestrian community.
