Warwick Police are searching for a man who assaulted a young woman in the Glennie Heights area early yesterday evening, Tuesday 2 October.
Around 6.15pm a woman aged in her early twenties pulled her vehicle over to the side of Rose Street after encountering engine problems while driving home from work.
While she was inspecting her vehicle a man going past in a utility stopped and offered her assistance, and a short time later assaulted her by slamming her head on the side of her vehicle which left her unconscious on the side of the road for a short period.
When she regained consciousness the man had left the scene and she was able to get home and called a friend to take her to hospital.
Police say they are also investigating a possible sexual assault.
The female victim was hospitalised last night but has since been released.
Describing the attack as “brazen” Detective Sergeant Darren Tamblyn of the Warwick Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) told media today, Wednesday 3 October, that police feel sure there must be witnesses who saw the incident even though it took place in a relatively “secluded” location near Horsman Road and adjacent paddocks just to the south of the Warwick Golf Club.
The man in question is described as Caucasian, aged between 30 and 40, approximately 175cm in height and of chubby build, with a dark, full beard and dark hair.
He was wearing a dark blue tradie shirt with sleeves rolled up, matching shorts and tradie style boots.
His vehicle is described as an older white, single-cab, trayback utility.
The victim’s vehicle is a white 1996 Nissan Patrol wagon with a bullbar and raised suspension.
People are urging anyone who witnessed the attack – including anyone with dashcam footage who may have been passing the scene – to contact them.
