The good times rolled

Members and guests took a trip down memory lance at the recent Warwick U3A annual morning tea.

Warwick U3A held its annual morning tea recently. This is one of a few occasions when members of all different groups have an opportunity to mingle and meet other club members.

This year in support of the annual trivia quiz members were asked to take a trip down ‘Memory Lane’ and to bring an item that would evoke memories.

The items varied from a very cumbersome old-style hearing aid, a mini computer not much larger than a cigarette packet, a family wedding photo and a hand-woven wicker basket from Papua New Guinea which once held the club president when he was a baby.

The winner voted to be the most interesting, judged by show of hands, was the certificate brought by Jane Durand signed by Robert Menzies giving her the courtesy of a welcome to any commonwealth countries.

Memory Lane did indeed conjure up many memories and generated discussion amongst members as they shared reminiscences.

U3A provides short courses for older people who enjoy learning but prefer the freedom to study where and when they choose.
