The final list of council candidates for the Southern Downs Regional Council election on Saturday 28 March has been finalised, with mayoral and councillor nominations closing yesterday, Tuesday 3 March and a total of 26 councillor nominations and four for mayor.

Voters will elect a mayor and eight councillors for the Southern Downs Regional Council.
Election day is Saturday 28 March. For enquiries relating to assistance with voting and casting a vote prior to election day visit the Electoral Commission of Queensland (ECQ) online at www.ecq.qld.gov.au or call them on 1300 881 665. Their call centre is open 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday and 9am – 4pm Saturday.
Pre-poll voting commences on Monday 16 January – the ECQ is yet to release details of pre-poll voting venues in the Southern Downs region.
