Condamine River Road closed until further notice

The Southern Downs Regional Council says due to the current pandemic COVID-19 and non-essential movement restrictions required by the State and Federal Governments the council advises the temporary closure of the Condamine River Road.

“The road closure will occur from (today) Wednesday 9 April 2020 and will remain closed until further notice,” a spokeswoman said.

“The closure is not applicable to emergency services or local residents who may utilise their gate key to enter and exit for essential travel as required.

“Residents can find a list of other closures and COVID-19 information at Council’s COVID-19 Portal at www.sdrc.qld.gov.au.

WASTE SERVICES AS NORMAL OVER EASTER…

The council also says waste management services will operate as normal on the Southern Downs over the Easter break.

“The Warwick and Stanthorpe Waste Facilities will be open 7am – 6pm over the break, whilst all other supervised waste facilities will be open 8am – 5pm,” the spokeswoman said.

“Residents are reminded that the Endeavour Foundation tip shops at the Warwick and Stanthorpe Waste Facilities remain closed until further notice and that Council’s waste facilities now only accept EFTPOS (credit cards and debit cards) and account payments.

“The decision to move to a cashless model at the facilities was based on hygiene concerns and social distancing restrictions as per Government advice and requirements.

“Kerbside waste collection services will also operate as normal over Easter, and residents need to have their wheelie bins ready for collection by 6am on their regular collection day.

“Council will continue to be guided by advice from the State and Federal Governments with decisions regarding its services to keep the community and staff safe.

“Council appreciates the community’s understanding during these times of change.”
