Police appeal for information

28-year-old Stanthorpe man Clayton Alvoen allegedly assaulted an officer and escaped custody yesterday afternoon.

Warwick police are continuing to search for a man who allegedly assaulted an officer and escaped custody after being remanded by the local court yesterday, Wednesday 28 April.

A police statement said 28-year-old Stanthorpe man Clayton Alvoen was being escorted by an officer from the court to the watch house at 2.30pm yesterday afternoon when he allegedly headbutted the officer before fleeing on foot.

“Police immediately conducted extensive patrols but failed to locate the man with officers believing he may have been driven away from the scene by associates,” read the statement released today.

“Investigations have continued overnight and this morning with known associates and haunts for the man, with police appealing to the man, or anyone with him, to immediately contact them.

“The man had been before the court on drug, assault, bail and domestic violence (D&FV) related charges. Police have taken all necessary action in relation to those involved in the D&FV matters.”

Police said the man is described as having a fair complexion, approximately 180 centimetres tall with a slim build, black hair and brown eyes.

“The injured officer received treatment at the local hospital for a facial laceration,” read the police statement.

Anyone with information in relation to the man’s whereabouts is urged to immediately contact police.
