Man in hospital after falling 20m near Killarney

A 53-year-old man was airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital this morning in a serious condition, following a crash on Spring Creek Road near Queen Mary Falls.

Warwick Ambulance Officer in Charge Wayne Kirk said the man was turning a corner on his motorcycle at around 11.15am when he veered off the road and over an embankment.

Emergency services arrived at the scene after the man was discovered by a passer-by.

Mr Kirk said it was a “difficult extraction”, as QFES and the Warwick QAS lifted the man 20 metres back up the embankment.

The motorcyclist is said to have sustained lower back, hip, pelvic and possible abdominal injuries.

Mr Kirk advised drivers and motorcyclists to be careful on the road near Killarney.

“It’s a very nice drive, especially if you’re on a motorbike, but I think you just need to be mindful that there’s lots of bends, lots of curves,” Mr Kirk said.

“So while you’re enjoying the ride you just need to go slowly through there because it is quite tricky and there’s also lots of vehicles coming the other way.”
