85 years strong

The Warwick Pensioners League held their 85th birthday celebration on 30 September at the Cowboys Clubhouse.

Members in attendance included Kaye Griffiths, Michael Holland, Greg Dillon, and Ruby Johnson.

Del McKey and Gloria Ellis were also in attendance.

Ida Jackson, Michael Blake, Bernie Moore, Thelma Moore, and Warwick James enjoyed the entertainment.

Veno Marsh, Agnes Mullins, and Hazel Saunders were also there to celebrate, with Hazel giving commentary on Greg’s poetry.

Members of the league celebrated the milestone with a cake.

The Warwick Pensioners League is the oldest pensioners league in the state, and was started in town on the 23rd of September 1937 by Arthur Ernest Pacey.

The league is a volunteer organisation with members of varying ages, and supports those living on limited incomes.

They strive to ensure that issues affecting pensioners,s elf-funded retirees, those over 60, and people with disabilities.
