The Graniteers received new banners and musical equipment from the Southern Downs Regional Council (SDRC) Community Drought Recovery Program Grants on 26 January.

The Graniteers are a Stanthorpe-based community ukulele group, and were incorporated in January 2019 by Burniece Bowes-Wright, on behalf of its twenty three founding members.

The group’s secretary Linda Hodson said the new quality sound equipment will enhance performances, which are normally held outdoors.

“It also enables us to showcase the talent of certain members of the group,” Linda said.

“The new banners will make us easily recognisable with the colours and logo and we are excited about the addition of a QR Code, which will link enquiries to our Facebook page.”

She said that The Graniteers are performing at the Australian National Busking Championships this Saturday.

“The Graniteers enjoy supporting and competing in this community event,” Linda said.

“Anyone can learn the ukulele, so come and say hi.”

The group’s banners were supplied by Graham Parker at Unique Designs, and the musical equipment was supplied by Trace and Helen Gosney from Top Beat Entertainment.
