Historic Leyburn Sprints fast approaching

More than 300 historic, classic and performance cars from the 1920s to modern-day will turn out for the 26th Historic Leyburn Sprints on 21 and 22 August.

One of Australia’s most popular motorsport heritage events, the community-run Sprints celebrate the running of the 1949 Australian Grand Prix near this former gold rush village on the Southern Darling Downs.

Main attractions include round-the-houses time trials starting outside the 1863-licensed Royal Hotel, a vintage caravan display, a big Shannons Show ‘n’ Shine display, market stalls and plenty of country hospitality.

There’s also a welcome barbecue on Friday 20 August open to all, a charity auction, a fun run around the track, chances to win racing car rides and a super-screen showing all the action via video streaming.

Leyburn is on the Toowoomba–Karara Road, approx. 68kms south of Toowoomba and approx. 75kms north-west of Warwick.
