One of Palmerin Street’s long-empty stores is set to be reopened in the near future, featuring new owners.

Rosie Favero has confirmed she will be reopening Pickle and Must Delicatessen, which was previously located inside Rose City Shopping Centre, in the storefront previously occupied by Mussels.

Mussels closed its store at 109 Palmerin Street in 2019. It has sat empty since.

During the Jumpers and Jazz in July Festival, Pickles and Must did a test-run offering takeaway and operating with cash only.

Rosie said they had a “pretty good response” which was “a bit of a surprise”.

She said they didn’t put it out there that they were re-opening and just thought they’d open the doors to test the waters.

After that success, they’ve had to close up again until they’re fully ready to relaunch the shop.

Rosie said they’re waiting on plumbers and new parts.

She said it’s just a matter of getting new parts delivered and then having them fitted.

After a visit from health inspectors, they’ll be ready to go.

“It’s just a matter of waiting and being patient”.

Rosie said it’s been a “long process” with lots going on at the moment.

They’ve had a few little hiccups, she said, but are getting there.

Rosie said they purchased the building around twelve months ago and spent some time deciding what they were going to do with it.

She said the store needed a lot of work, but locals can expect to see it open sooner rather than later.

Rosie also runs Belle Vue Cafe, located at 119 Palmerin Street.
