Smoke from planned burn – Durikai State Forest

The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will conduct a staged planned burn within Durikai State Forest from 26 August 2022, as part of the annual hazard reduction program for parks and forests

As a result, smoke will be seen and may reduce visibility south of Karara.

This planned burn aims to reduce the volume of forest fuels and create a mosaic pattern of burnt and unburnt areas.

This will help reduce the likelihood of any subsequent wildfires and provide favourable conditions for natural forest regeneration.

Smoke can decrease visibility on the roads, so motorists must drive safely to the conditions.

If suffering from a respiratory condition, close windows and doors, and keep medications close by
