Crime in brief

Warwick Police Station.

Warwick West vandalism

Between 8pm on 23 August and 6am on 24 August, offenders entered Warwick West State School grounds and sprayed a range of black spray-painted symbols on various walls around the school area.

Police are in the process of looking at CCTV and the matter is under investigation.

Drink and drug drivers

At 4am on Saturday morning, a 22-year-old Warwick male was found drink driving on Percy Street.

Police brought him back to the station where he read 0.061 and will appear in court on 26 September.

A 28-year-old Warwick female was caught drug driver on Saturday at midday and will appear in court next month after the Pratten Street incident.

Similarly, the following day at 10.30am, a 44-year-old Warwick female was found drug driving on Wood Street.

Then on Monday at 4.45pm, a 43-year-old male was found on Wattle Avenue for driving with relevant drug in system and will appear in court next month.

Killarney road incident

At approximately 11pm on Saturday 20 August, police from Killarney intercepted a 32-year-old man attempting to drive the 20km+ to his home.

He was found to be under the influence of liquor and recorded a blood alcohol content 0.181 per cent – more than three and half times the limit.

Police were shocked to find a five-year-old girl was a passenger in the rear of the vehicle and she was also not restrained securely.

Police stated this level of irresponsible behaviour shown by the driver was astounding, and it beggars belief that someone would not only place themselves and other road users at risk by drink driving but also a 5-year-old child that is supposed to be in their care.

The offender’s drivers licence was immediately suspended and they will appear in the Warwick Magistrates Court on 19 September.
