The Wallangarra Driver Reviver Rest Area located just before you reach the township is a colourful sight.

This fantastic park area was busier than some coffee shops in South-east Queensland and run entirely by volunteers.

When I visited there last week, I was greeted by happy smiling faces ready to yarn to a complete stranger.

It was a really nice experience, so I would like to celebrate the Wallangarra volunteers.

Volunteers are a precious commodity who take time out of their busy schedules to help others.

Their time, their willingness and their selflessness in supporting the community is awe-inspiring.

While I am aware that you, all 50 of you, volunteer without expectation of recognition or praise, today I would like to do exactly that for you.

Last Wednesday, you made my day and I appreciated that.

Thank you for your generosity and conversation, it didn’t go unnoticed.
