Christmas has a way of sneaking up on us, but as a motivator to get things done, Australia Post have announced mailing deadline dates.

And with so many Aussies shopping online these days, the postal agency says, ‘deliveries are already surging’.

These need-to-know dates have been recommended in the lead up to the most busiest time of year to ensure your international parcels reach your loved ones in time for Christmas.

Many destinations require cards and gifts to be sent as early as Monday 14 November, especially if you are using the International Economy service, however for International Standard and Express there is a little more leeway.

International Express to destinations such as the USA, UK, New Zealand and Canada should be sent no later than Friday 9 December.

Australia Post Executive General Manager, Customer and Commercial Gary Starr said for anyone who wants to send gifts internationally for Christmas this year, we’re encouraging them to post by the dates advised.

Mr Starr added a warning, “As always, we’ll continue to deliver items sent after these dates as quickly as possible, but they may not arrive until after Christmas.”

Australia Post are in the process of finalising domestic cut-off dates for both Parcel Post and Express Post.

International Economy air letters 14-25 November.

International Standard parcels and letters 21 November-2 December

International Express parcels and letters 28 November-9 December
