One hundred years ago in October 1922, Alderman Barnes suggested the launch of a Chamber of Commerce in Warwick Council Chambers. The official inaugural meeting was held on 24 November 1922 and in that moment a giant was born.

This organisation would go on to champion the business community of Warwick through good times and bad, always with a vision for the future.

On Friday evening, the business community came together at Club Warwick RSL to celebrate the past 100 years and look forward to how the next 100 years may look.

In a somewhat fitting way to celebrate, President Gary Lawrence was thrilled to inform the crowd that 100 people were seated for dinner and as of earlier in the week, the Chamber is now 100 members strong.

The evening also took time to pay tribute to the CWA for celebrating 100 years of selfless service to communities.

A standout part of the night was the tribute to long-time chamber members, volunteers and Warwick icons, Greg Newey and Graham Buchner. These two men are the epitome of community and their contribution to not only the chamber but to the broader Warwick community should never be forgotten. Their vision was to see Warwick shine and grow long into the future.

This legacy is something that Warwick Chamber of Commerce president Gary Lawrence takes very seriously, and under the guidance of him and his board, the Warwick Chamber will continue to see Warwick businesses shine. They have developed an aggressive and inclusive strategy to raise the profile of Warwick business and to aid in the connection of experts in their field and Warwick business owners. Moving forward their hope is to see Warwick business work ‘Together as one’.

To kick off an exciting year, the Chamber will host the first of its ‘Connect Breakfast Series’ at the Cherry Tree on Tuesday 15th November at 7am. Please email secretary@warwickqld.com.au with your RSVP, as they are essential.
