Talented Warwick youth performed on the stage at Leslie Park last week for the Headspace Day 2022 Warwick’s Got Talent show.

The audience cheered on four contestants.

The Nine Year Sister and The Fern Brothers played live, along with Sally and Kath from Warwick Choral Society and the audience enjoyed a contestant speaking about his street sign collection.

The Headspace National Day of Awareness is about the mental health and wellbeing of young people with the event being an opportunity for local youth to courageously step on stage and showcase their diverse talents.

Anna-Selina Kager, community engagement officer and youth access worker said the event provided equal opportunities and rewards for all participants.

“Caleb, who presented his street sign collection is yet to collect his prizes of McDonald’s vouchers and a two burner BBQ from Big W DC,“ Ms Kager said.

“All other prizes were distributed to event attendees through a free raffle.

“Prizes included vouchers from Warwick Friendly Society, Cherry Tree, Warwick Auto Pro, pizza vouchers from Domino’s, a big basket full of goodies plus a microwave and the BBQ from Big W DC,“ Ms Kager said.

There was mini golf and Petra Kuziw from DrugArm hosted an information stall while local Youth Reference Group member, Hannah, hosted the Headspace stall and conducted a mini-recruitment drive for new Youth Reference Group Members.

Hannah said the highlight of the day was seeing a diverse group of people attend the event.

“Headspace Day 2022 Warwick’s Got Talent attracted young people, parents, young families and even seniors.“

“It was such a wonderful mix of people.“

“As for our contestants and performances, I personally loved the street sign presentation. Our contestant Caleb demonstrated incredible bravery stepping on stage and sharing part of his street sign collection with the public,” Hannah said.

Ms Kager said one of the major goals for Headspace is to provide a nurturing and supportive community network for young people and their family and friends.

“We aim to achieve sustainable results in this area by presenting events and activities featuring entertainment, creative expression and culinary experiences.

“We look forward to holding events at Youth Stage more frequently to utilise this beautiful outdoor space,” Ms Kager said.

The event was supported by Top Aussie Tucker, MJs Lattes and Warwick Rotary Sunrise and Southern Downs Regional Council.
