On November 10 Queensland Premier Annastacia Palasczuk announced a move into amber alert as a fourth wave of Covid-19 cases increased.

The amber tier is activated when there are moderate rates of community transmission.

A spokesperson from Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service said at this time, COVID-19 has a minimal impact on the Southern Downs.

“The hospitals continue to remain open for anyone needing urgent care.”

“If the number of hospitalisations does increase, Darling Downs Health is well prepared to manage this as we’ve done time and time again.”

“All hospital visitors across the state are being asked to wear a face mask after Queensland Health updated the traffic light advice to amber last week,” the spokesperson said.

When the traffic light is amber, the recommendation is to wear a mask:

• in healthcare settings

• indoors, if you can’t socially distance

• on public transport

• if you are older or medically at risk

• if you’re around people who are vulnerable to COVID-19

• if required by a venue or household.
