A new Wind Farm with enough power to supply 165,000 homes is soon to be constructed about 100km west of the Tarong Power Station near Jandowae in the Western Downs.

Construction on the Wambo Wind Farm is set to begin in April this year with commercial operations of stage 1 scheduled for late 2025.

It comes after the Queensland Government announced the $192.5 million investment that will deliver a 50 per cent public ownership stake and 100 per cent of the offtake in the 252MW Wind Farm (stage 1).

The publicly owned Stanwell Corporation acquired 50 per cent ownership in a joint venture with Cubico Sustainable Investments, while also executing an off-take agreement with Cubico for the remaining 50 per cent of the project.

The Wambo Wind Farm compromises 42 Vestas 6 MW turbines with a generating capacity of 252 MW / 824Gwh – enough power to supply 165,000 homes.
