We challenge you to guess who?

The lady in this photo, who could she be? An artist? A puppeteer? A designer?

Looks can be deceiving.

Meet Jade Gilchrist, a globally known anthropologist and researcher whose academic papers on Baby Boomers have been published in the USA, Japan and New Zealand.

We are very lucky to have her, here in Warwick , as the recently appointed Community Awareness and Engagement Officer for young people’s outreach agency, Headspace.

Jade is pictured with two costume character creations which you would think were made by top professionals.

The bird and the bunny look like they came straight off the set of Movie World.

Yet this is the standard of creativity and skill which our local teens possess in costume making.

There is a flurry of activity as they prepare for Youth Week next month.

It will culminate on April 14 with a Grand CosPlay Parade through Rose City Shopping Centre and over Palmerin Street to the Town Hall for a huge After Party with live music, free pizza, loads of giveaways and prizes for best costumes.

For teens wanting to take part, there is still time to plan and perfect your CosPlay costume.

Headspace is holding a special session on March 22 to help inspire costume ideas and show how to make masks to the high standard of these in our photo.

For more information, give Jade a call on 4661 1999 or meet her at the Coffee Club on any Tuesday afternoon after school.

She is there every week to lend an ear and offer a hand, not just for CosPlay, but for all of life’s challenges facing young people in country towns.

Headspace is also on Facebook and Instagram.
