Delays at Cunninghams Gap

Southern Downs residents driving between home and Brisbane or the Gold Coast are advised that traffic conditions are currently being impacted by the Cunninghams Gap Reconstruction Project.

Intermittent stopped and slow traffic conditions will impact travelling times from 6am to 6pm on weekdays (excepting public holidays) on the Cunningham Highway at the Gap.

During this time, the Department of Transport and Main Roads will undertake slope stabilisation works behind safety barriers.

TMR has advised that road users could experience delays of up to 45 minutes when travelling through Cunninghams Gap.

Night works will be undertaken this Saturday (22 April) from 8pm to 4am and road users may have wait times of around 15 minutes.

The advised delay times may be impacted by weather or site conditions. People can keep up to date about the roadworks by downloading the QLDTraffic app.

The work at this time is scaling or stabilising uphill slopes to reduce the risk of rockfalls. Stage 2 reconstruction works are expected to begin late this year.
