Three separate motorcycle accidents on the Southern Downs over the past week have required the assistance of the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter.

A man in his 50s was airlifted to hospital after a dirt bike riding accident on 19 May. He was treated for a suspected spinal injury and was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane under the care of a critical care doctor and nurse.

On 20 May, a motorbike rider was on the road when a number of kangaroos crossed it, causing her to crash. The woman, in her 50s, was provided with first aid by other riders in the group. The chopper landed on the road, which had been closed by the police, and the aeromedical crew treated her for several injuries including chest, shoulder and broken wrist. She was flown to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.

On the same day, a man in his 40s was injured when his motorcycle crashed into a tree just south of the Queensland border. Paramedics from both Queensland and New South Wales responded and he was transported by ambulance to an oval to be met by the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue aeromedical crew. He was treated for multiple injuries and flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
