Protea Place Warwick officially opened on 31 July.

The event brought together suppliers, supporters, donors, and local dignitaries to commemorate this significant milestone.

An important addition to the region, Protea Place aims to provide support for women in the community and it serves as a safe and inclusive space where women can access counselling, workshops, skill-building programs, and networking opportunities.

During the opening ceremony, founder and CEO of Protea Place, Amanda Dalton reflected on the journey of building the Warwick location.

“It’s been an incredible task and with everything, there are bumps in the road and there are challenges and sometimes there are barriers but amongst all of that we never ever forget why we are doing this and that is to bring some specific support to women locally in the Warwick and Southern Downs region,” Amanda said.

Expressions of gratitude were extended to the women involved in the initiative, the organizations that generously donated, the Toowoomba team, and especially the volunteers.

“It has been through the dedication and hard work of the most incredible team that we pulled this off and each and every one of you played an important role in this region,” Amanda said.

Protea Place is committed to promoting gender equality, fostering personal growth, and creating a strong support network for women to thrive. It provides a nurturing environment where women can come together, share their experiences, and access the necessary tools for empowerment.

A testament to his role community and the important one Protea Place will play, Mayor Vic Pennisi said that when people asked him why he was a councillor, his standard answer was because you can make a profound difference to people’s lives and that was what this would do.

Already touching so many hearts of those involved, Protea Place Warwick was officially opened with a blessing from Police Chaplain Jeff Ballis and as of 8 August, it will open to visitors.

“I am very aware of the benefits that Protea Place has given Toowoomba and when I did its blessing almost four years ago I said get ready because this will expand,” Chaplain Ballis said.

This momentous occasion signifies the beginning of a transformative journey for Protea Place Warwick, as it strives to make a lasting difference in the lives of women in the region.
