Women’s riding groups

Getting ready to ride.

Hey Bike Fans, Rossey here again. I’d like to talk about something a little different today.

I’d like to talk about the ever growing and very popular ladies contingent in motorcycle riding.

As we know, male riders dominate the motorcycle riding scene, however there are a growing number of females attending my Q-Ride courses in Warwick and Toowoomba, and many more learning how to ride and gain their motorcycle licenses all over Australia, and they are becoming a force to be reckoned with, having some very skilled female beginner riders showing up some of the boys.

Not only is there an increase in female riders, but there is also an increase in ladies only motorcycle social riding groups. These groups are making it easier for ladies to ride with likeminded people, enjoying a well-maintained pace and not be bothered with the tom foolery we all know some boys can display once they have that 200 kilo piece of steel between their legs. A couple of the riding groups are ‘Brisbane Female Riders’ and ‘East Coast Female Riders’ with approx. seven thousand members enjoying the socialising and fun there is to offer with a day on two wheels.

Another riding club that does amazing work is Sister’s on Steel. This social riding club also works with victims of Domestic Violence and other advocacies by embracing the freedom and fun of motorcycle riding as a form of therapy.

Unfortunately, we are yet to have a women’s motorcycle riding group in the Darling Downs area, so if someone is interested in forming a small group, please make it happen. I will happily help where possible.

If you would like to check out any of these worthy groups, you can find Sisters on Steel at www.sistersonsteel.org.au, or any other female riding groups on Facebook.

And for Q-Ride Motorcycle Rider Training in Warwick & Toowoomba, please check out my Facebook page ‘Southern Downs Rider Training’ or call 0422137893.

That’s it from me, so as I always say, please be safe on the road, Stay shiny side up, and Ride your own ride. This is Rossey, and I’m going to get you ‘Geared to Ride’.
