Kristyann Clayton had been contemplating a career shift when a chance conversation at the hairdresser’s brought her the opportunity of a lifetime. Little did she know that her visit to the salon would set her on a path toward achieving her aspirations.

“I wanted to embark on a new journey as a support worker/personal carer. Coming from a call-center background, I yearned for a role where I could forge lasting connections with clients and truly make a difference,“ Kristyann shared.

Her breakthrough came through a program she stumbled upon during her salon visit, offering the prospect of a transformative career change. The program, known as the Steady Ready Go initiative, became Kristyann’s gateway to realising her dreams.

In 2023, Kristyann successfully completed her Certificate III in Community Services through Gateway to Training (GTT), Warwick, a milestone she credits to the support and guidance provided by GTT Project Officers.

For Kristyann, the program was more than just attaining a qualification; it was about the journey of personal and professional growth.

“The assistance I received from Kelly and the team at GTT was exceptional. They not only made learning easy and enjoyable but also continued to support me even after completing the program. Their genuine concern for my future was truly touching,“ Kristyann expressed.

Kristyann found the hands-on experience at GTT immensely beneficial, emphasising the value of interacting with Project Officers onsite, which she found far more engaging than online learning platforms.

The GTT program proved to be a catalyst for Kristyann’s career aspirations. Presently employed in an administrative role at Blue Care, she is set to transition into a Personal Carer position with the organisation this March. Reflecting on her journey, Kristyann expressed deep gratitude for the opportunities that have unfolded before her.
