With a focus on prioritising patient comfort and well-being, the Warwick Hospital is gearing up for a significant improvement to its amenities.

Recognising the importance of maintaining a positive atmosphere during hospital stays, especially during times of isolation from loved ones, the hospital is finalising plans to revamp its entertainment system after a seven-year wait.

According to a spokesperson from Darling Downs Health (DDH), the long-awaited upgrade to the Warwick Hospital entertainment system is slated to be completed in the upcoming months.

“The intricate works will include new or upgraded electrical and supporting systems, new televisions, and associated equipment,” the spokesperson said.

The drive for this renovation stems from the lingering effects of a lightning strike several years ago, which rendered the existing entertainment system inoperative.

This extended period without accessible entertainment options left many patients, particularly elderly individuals, grappling with boredom and a sense of detachment from the outside world.

Resident Glenise Latham echoed the sentiments of many, emphasising the importance of entertainment amenities in providing patients with a much-needed distraction from their surroundings.

Beyond offering recreational diversions, the revamped entertainment system will facilitate improved communication between patients and hospital staff.

“While this upgrade is completed, any visitor or patient at Warwick Hospital can continue to make use of the free WiFi to connect their own devices to access free-to-air and subscription streaming services, digital radio and stay in contact with friends and family online,” DDH spokesperson said.
