Charges laid after crash

A 50-year-old Killarney woman has been charged with reckless driving for allegedly crashing her car into a rail barrier in Warwick last Tuesday.

The woman’s Holden station wagon collided with a barrier at the Dragon Street rail crossing at about 4pm on 23 April, police alleged.

She was later taken to Warwick Hospital for observation before police issued her an infringement notice for driving without due care and attention.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident.

Scam warning

Warwick Police have issued an advisory warning for residents to take care when using online marketplaces for risk of being scammed.

In a statement, Acting Senior Sargeant Cam Slater said police had continued “to receive reports of fraudulent activity on online selling platforms”.

“Residents are asked to do their due diligence when considering purchases on these types of platforms, especially when being asked to deposit money into unknown accounts,” he said.

Assault

Police are investigating an alleged assault in Warwick last Thursday morning.

Police responded to reports of a disturbance near Stewart Avenue at about 11am on 25 April where a man had allegedly assaulted another person.

The victim was later transported to Warwick Hospital, police said.

Investigations into the incident and other related offences are ongoing.

Pipe possession

A man in his 40s will face court in June after being caught with what police described as an “implement” used to smoke dangerous drug.

Police said officers attended an address in Yarrawonga Street at about 8am last Thursday where they spoke to the man, aged 41.

The man agreed to go with officers to the Warwick Police Station where police located the smoking implement in his pocket.

Drug driving

A 24-year-old Millmerran Woods woman has been charged after allegedly failing a roadside drug test on the New England Highway.

The woman was pulled over by police at Rosenthal Heights at about 2.30pm last Tuesday before allegedly testing positive to a relevant drug on a saliva test.

She will face court in June.

Unlicensed driving

Two men have been charged for allegedly driving without a license in separate incidents over the last week and a half.

A Gold Coast man, aged 30, was caught on Bourke Street last Monday night while a 19-year-old from Warwick was busted on Cleary Street in the early hours of last Wednesday morning.

Drink driving

Two drivers were charged for allegedly driving while intoxicated on roads around Warwick on the weekend.

A 26-year-old Warwick woman will face court in May after allegedly blowing 0.081 per cent on a roadside breath test on Saturday night.

A Warwick man, aged 30, will also face court this month after allegedly blowing 0.066 per cent on a breath test.
