Killarney’s Top Shop, nestled amidst rolling plains and green mountains, found new owners at the beginning of the year in Udbhab “Ansh” Singla and Nitika “Nikki” Balsal.

The picturesque views framed by the café windows initially attracted the couple, and since taking over, they have seen the business thrive within the community.

Despite many customers being travellers, Ansh noted the significant support and feedback from locals.

While selling snacks and beverages, the Top Shop has also become a restaurant venue of upscale casual dining, with plans to grow in the pipeline.

“We have applied for a license to serve alcohol and are positive because the premises had a permit in the past,” Ansh said.

“We are also looking at incorporating some outside seating on our deck area so people can enjoy the views.”

Breaking away from typical café norms, the Top Shop features a petrol pump outside, which Ansh believes offers the most competitive prices in the area.

“Most of the time, my diesel is cheaper than the ones in Warwick,” he said.

Ansh and Nikki’s ambitions extend beyond the café/restaurant and single petrol pump.

They have purchased the old mechanic shop on Willow Street, which is set to open in the coming weeks.

The front of the shop will host petrol pumps, while the back will remain a mechanics’ workshop.

By moving to the small town of Killarney and bringing their business ventures with them, Ansh and Nikki have revitalised the area with late dining options and quality fuel.
