Acclaimed classical singer Andrew Taylor Knight is returning to his hometown of Warwick for a special one-night-only performance at St Mark’s Church on Wednesday, 26 June.

The concert aims to raise funds and awareness for mental health, an issue close to Andrew’s heart due to personal experiences with friends facing similar struggles.

Andrew’s journey into classical music began with performances in school plays and singing lessons under the mentorship of a classically trained teacher.

He starred in notable productions at The Armidale School, including Les Misérables and West Side Story. His talent earned him a full scholarship to the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and acceptance into the Sydney Conservatorium, where he completed his Bachelor of Music (Classical Voice) and Master of Music (Opera Performance) between 2017 and 2022.

Now based in London, Andrew has remained committed to breaking stereotypes. Despite his classical music career, he is also passionate about sports and mentors children in London, demonstrating that it’s possible to excel in both singing and rugby.

In 2023, before moving to London, Andrew auditioned for The Voice Australia, impressing the judges and making it just short of the semi-finals.

His mother, Rachel, missed hearing him sing and suggested the concert as a way to combine his home visit with support for a good cause.

Andrew will be joined on stage by renowned musician Melissa Buchholz, who will provide musical accompaniment. Melissa, with over 30 years of teaching experience in piano, woodwind, and theory, has performed at the Sydney Opera House, toured the UK, and was named Young Citizen of the Year for her contributions to music.

Rachel expressed immense pride in her son’s achievements.

“We believe in him and, like most parents, we support whatever career path he decides to take.“

Tickets for the concert are $25, with all proceeds supporting mental health awareness in the region. For tickets or more information, contact Colette at 0478 353 896.

In addition to his musical performance, Andrew will participate in WIRAC’s sports ability training on Tuesday, June 25, at 4:30 PM. Those interested in joining can contact WIRAC for more details.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to support mental health while enjoying an evening of extraordinary music with Andrew Taylor Knight and Melissa Buchholz.
