Pop go the choirs

The massed choir at Warwick.

The group on the stage was nearly as big as the audience of 200 at Warwick’s Kings Theatre on Sunday 16 June.

Nearly 100 visiting singers joined 75 locals for the public performance, Warwick Goes Pop.

The event involved members from a number of Southern Downs choirs along with the visiting Pop Choir from the Redlands, along with the star of the show, well known choirmaster, tenor and teacher Jonathon Welch AM, who has won accolades for his work with groups including the Choir of Hard Knocks, for which he was the founding artistic director in 2006, giving a voice to the homeless and disadvantaged in Melbourne.

A special guest of the day was Leah Lever, a young soprano already making her mark in the entertainment business.
