Final RADF grants approved

Three grants enabling dance moves, pottery creation and film exploration have been approved in the final Regional Arts Development Fund program funding on the Southern Downs for the 2023-24 year.

The local RADF, a partnership between the Queensland Government and the Southern Downs Regional Council, offered a pool of $115,567 for the year and allowed applications of up to $25,000 to support local artists and creative community organisations.

Jumpers and Jazz in July, an annual festival centred in Warwick, will receive more than $18,000 to present workshops and performances in music, dance and physical theatre. The workshops for jazz band and dance will build on the previous year’s deliveries, while a children’s physical theatre workshop and performance will be geared to increasing children’s capacity for creativity and collaborative learning.

The Stanthorpe Pottery Club will receive $3876 towards two workshops. One will be dedicated to hand building and throwing while the other workshop will focus on mould-making techniques.

An $11,000 grant to award-winning cinematograher Greg Huglin will be used for an eight-day program proving an immersion experience for 120 Warwick youth and eight educators during four workshops.

Young people will try their hand at script writing, directing, producing, acting, camera operation, sound technician skills and editing.

The program will move from conception to a final red-carpet community screening event.
