A Warwick teenager has died after a serious traffic collision near Millmerran on Friday afternoon.

Police said early investigations indicated a white Toyota ute had been travelling east along Owens Scrub Road towards Leyburn when it hit a tree and caught fire at about 2.40pm on 28 June.

Paramedics rushed to the scene where the driver of the car, an 18-year-old Warwick man, was declared dead.

It is understood a 17-year-old male passenger escaped the vehicle with minor injuries and was later transported in a stable condition to Millmerran Hospital.

In a statement, police appealed for “anyone with information or dashcam vision that could assist investigations, to come forward”.

Forensic Crash Unit investigations are ongoing.
