A popular Goomburra Valley campground will tighten its rules for guests in response to a deadly driving incident which left a foal motherless.

In a statement posted to social media, operators of Gordon Country, located about 40 minutes east of Warwick, revealed one of their “beloved” donkeys had been killed due to alleged “reckless driving by a guest”.

“This mumma donkey has left behind a beautiful little foal,” the statement read.

“The saddest part is that whom ever hit her did not stop nor inform anyone of the incident leaving her to die.

“We ask that please if anyone [saw] this occur or [has] any information regarding this to please contact our office and all information provided will be kept confidential.”

The family-owned eco-tourism venture operates alongside a farming enterprise where guests can interact with farm animals like cattle, horses and donkeys.

Owners said they were noticing increased incidents of “poor behaviour” occurring on their property.

“We open our home to our guests to be able to love our property as much as we do and enjoy our beautiful animals to bring joy to your day,” a statement read.

“This weekend alone we have encountered our animals [being] harmed, gel blaster guns, reckless driving and threatening behaviour to other guests.

“Please remember this is a private property and that we pride ourselves on [being] able to have [a] family friendly environment for everyone to enjoy.”

To prevent further incidents, owners said they would be increasing their rules.

“We have zero tolerance for reckless driving, and you will be asked to leave the premises.”

Gordon Country were contacted for further comment.
