TAFE Queensland has announced that applications for its scholarship program are now open, providing 100 Australians with the opportunity to advance their education and career prospects through vocational education and training.

The Scholarship Program offers each recipient $5000 to support their studies, which can range from a Certificate III to an Advanced Diploma or Bachelor Degree.

The Warwick campus is among the 60 campus locations across Queensland and online options are available, the program caters to a wide array of educational needs.

TAFE Queensland Interim chief executive officer John Tucker said scholarships help cover the costs of course fees, textbooks and living expenses.

“We know the power vocational education and training has to change people’s lives and we want to help people fulfil their career potential regardless of their circumstances,” Mr Tucker said.

Since its inception in 2015, the scholarship program has awarded over $3.05 million, benefiting more than 640 Queenslanders.

The program offers two types of scholarships: Merit scholarships for individuals who have demonstrated strong achievement and Access and Equity scholarships designed for those facing social or financial challenges.

To qualify, applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents and either commence their studies in Semester 1, 2025 or be first-year apprentices currently enrolled at TAFE Queensland.

“Scholarships can be life-changing for students, and TAFE Queensland is incredibly grateful for the support of organisations who generously donate each year to the TAFE Queensland Foundation which funds our scholarships program,” Mr Tucker said.

With an average of 1,000 applications received annually, Tucker encourages anyone considering starting a career, making a career change, or upskilling to apply.

“Whether you’re leaving school, considering a career change, or looking to upskill, all Queenslanders are urged to apply,“ he said.

The application window remains open until 30 September, 2024.
