Renowned Australian comedian, writer, and podcaster Tom W Clarke is set to visit Warwick for the launch of his debut book, Shoulda Been Higher: A Celebration of 30 Years of Triple J’s Hottest 100.

Tom W Clarke, known for his wit and deep passion for music, brings a fresh perspective on the iconic Hottest 100 countdown.

Since 1993, this annual music chart has captured the hearts of Australians, showcasing listeners’ top 100 favourite songs of the year. Clarke’s book delves into the rich history of what he describes as “the world’s greatest musical democracy”.

Shoulda Been Higher offers a blend of serious analysis and humour, exploring the social, musical, and cultural impact of the Hottest 100.

It examines how this countdown has become more than just a list of songs, evolving into a cultural touchstone that embodies the essence of Australian summer with its beaches, barbecues, and bonfires. The book also highlights the joy and despair, drama and debate, and the sense of friendship and community that the Hottest 100 fosters.

The event will take place from 2pm to 4pm at St Marks Anglican Church Hall on 26 July, located at the corner of Grafton and Albion Street.
