The Friends of BUSHkids are gearing up to celebrate their annual Bush Dance this August, promising an evening filled with true blue tunes courtesy of the Band-‘O’-Coots.

The event is open to everyone and aims to foster community spirit while raising funds for BUSHkids’ vital services.

Rachel Bruyn, a member of BUSHkids, emphasised the significance of events like these for community engagement and fundraising.

“Last year, the night was a great community event, and it was a fun time for everyone who attended,” Rachel said.

“A lot of people are not familiar with what BUSHkids is and our services, so we are able to talk about that during the night as well.”

BUSHkids provides free allied health therapy services to children in the Southern Downs community, including individual and group support and parenting programs.

Their holistic approach helps children improve their speech, behaviour, resilience, and confidence in completing daily activities and interacting with their families and peers.

The funds raised from the 2023 Bush Dance contributed to the creation of a sensory nature play area, used for individual therapy sessions and the weekly BUSHkids Playgroup.

Held every Wednesday morning during the school term, the Playgroup offers a networking opportunity for parents to form friendships while children explore nature and make friends. Clinicians are also on hand to provide informal support to parents and children, with activities including free play in the Nature Play area, story-time, and crafts.

This year’s Bush Dance will be held on Saturday, 31 August, at the One Table Café & Function Room on the Churches of Christ Campus. Tickets are available at the door, with EFTPOS facilities provided for convenience. Prices are set at $30 for families (2 adults and up to 4 children), $10 for adults, and $5 for children under 18.

Join the Friends of BUSHkids for a night of music, dancing, and community spirit while supporting a great cause.
