The Warwick Art Gallery celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Jumpers and Jazz in July Festival with a special book launch event.

The festival has been a cornerstone of the Warwick community, bringing together artists, musicians, and festival enthusiasts year after year. The tree jumpers, a unique aspect of the festival, are a testament to this enduring creativity and collaboration.

For 18 years, Warwick Art Gallery Director, Karina Devine has served as the curator of the Yarnbomb exhibition, a journey filled with vibrant colours, innovative designs, and surprises.

“I vividly remember my first Jumpers and Jazz in 2006, I was a blow-in, new to town with a lot to learn about the fledging event,” Karina said.

Karina extended her heartfelt thanks to past and present staff, the management committee, and the Warwick Art Gallery’s former festival partners. Their dedication and unique skills have been instrumental in the festival’s success over the years.

“At the gallery, we’ve been deliberate in ensuring that the Yarnbombing exhibition is exciting for both participants and viewers,” She said.

“We strive to create an experience that captivates and delights sparking joy and wonder in everyone who visits.

“Encouraging participation has been the heart of our mission and we believe that everyone has a role to play in making our festival a success.”

The 20th-anniversary book features the art, words, quotes, and stories of 20 special tree jumper participants, including artists and community groups like Akooramak Aged Care and the Warwick Guides. The publication, months in the making, is a delightful endeavour celebrating the festival’s rich history.

The evening concluded with the distribution of the 20th-anniversary book to the featured participants. The book will be available for sale throughout the festival for $15.

As the 20th anniversary of Jumpers and Jazz in July continues, the community is encouraged to create new memories and celebrate the magic of creativity and community that makes the festival so special. The Warwick Art Gallery invites everyone to visit and experience the exceptional program they have put together this year.

The night was a fitting tribute to two decades of artistic celebration, community engagement, and the enduring charm of the Jumpers and Jazz in July Festival.
